Education ought to be related to life, needs and aspirations of the people so as to be a powerful instrument of social, economic, and cultural transformation�. The Indian Education Commission 1964-66.
With the motto of transforming man and society, the Department of Education was established in the year of 1983 and Major Course was first introduced in the year 1999.
There are more than 500 students in total enrolled each year in various classes of the Department. The medium of instruction of the department is English and Assamese. Modern techniques of teaching are used in the classes. LCD, projector, digital classroom, Google Classroom, computer, internet, etc. are used by the department.
The Departmental Library has a collection more than 200 subject related and reference books. There is a well-equipped Psychological Laboratory in the Department.
There are four faculty members and one laboratory bearer working in the department.
