PhD RESEARCH SUMMARY :

PhD (July2015-July2021)
Supervisor : Dr. Sunanda Chatterjee, Associate Professor Department of Chemistry, IIT Guwahati
Thesis Title: Mechanism of Self-Assembly of Small Designer Peptides and their Potential Applications.
Research work: My research work is about the exploration and understanding of self-assembly mechanism in small designed peptides and amino acid derivatives and applying the nanostructures formed in diverse applications. Peptides and amino acid derivatives have been synthesized using standard solution and solid phase peptide synthesis methods. Thereafter, various studies have been undertaken to delineate the mechanism of self-assembly in molecular details, unravelling the supramolecular interactions that are involved in the process. Finally, the self-assembled materials have been employed in waste water treatment and drug delivery applications. The body of my work involves experimental techniques like HPLC, TLC, fluorescence, NMR, PXRD, FTIR, FESEM, FETEM, Rheology, CD etc. and theoretical analysis using DFT studies.
